Do not feed the pigeons!

The feral pigeon is completely at home in urban environments, exploiting humans for food and using buildings for the purposes of roosting and breeding. Pigeons breed all year round with peak breeding periods in spring and summer, however, breeding is restricted if food is restricted. This offers a potential solution in controlling increasing numbers by reducing the supply of food to pigeons. All rubbish is bagged, food is swept from the roads, educated people in the problems caused by mass bird feeding and local councils take responsibility of the overall pigeon problem.

how to keep birds off my chimney

The Defender Chimney pot strap is ideal for dettering birds from your chimney. Easy to install and allows for a brush to easily clean through the wires without damaging the product. This product has been tested on several coastal locations to stop Seagulls, after three years the results have shown the birds have stopped using the chimeny's and moved to other areas where bird spikes are not employed.

Olympic pigeons

Construction companies, property maintenance and building firms working on the Olympic development are starting to install bird spikes to new builds and refurbishments in the area to stop pigeons roosting. More and more architects are stipulating bird spikes as preventive measures to keep birds away ensuring the building is free from bird droppings and nesting material, keeping building maintenance costs under control.

Pigeon Spikes - hardly visible

There are some issues regarding the aesthetics of pigeon spikes. Close up they look like an upside down hair brush and users sometimes try other forms of bird deterrent products until they quickly realise that nothing works as quickly and as effective as pigeon spikes. When looking from ground level the spikes can hardly be seen and if the user maintains / cleans the spikes once a year they will be working for 10 - 15 years plus.

Anti bird spikes

'Flat roof hell'

Seagulls and Pigeons love flat roof areas; they offer easy landing, a look out for dangerous predators and the opportunity to spot potential food sources. Once a flat roof is established the birds will start to walk, jump, hop, land and nest build making the noise levels unbearable. In some cases seagulls will start tearing up the tar, bitumen and felt lining protecting the flat roof.

Installing several rows of bird spikes across the flat roof area will ensure 100% total protection from the birds immediately.
